Pool Basics
Whether you’re building an inground or above ground pool, one with fiberglass construction or a complete concrete construction, you’ll need to make some decisions on pool basics to help you create the pool of your dreams. From meeting with a local inspector, to determining your costs and budget, you will be making a variety of decisions well before construction can begin.
The first step when constructing your pool will be learning about local codes and regulations. Here you will need to review any regulations on fence requirements and size limits. If you are installing an in-home pool, you may need to review its potential within the given space. If there will be excavation involved, you may need to make room for trucks and other construction equipment during the process. Additionally you will need to consult various pool installers and distributors to establish the budget for your installation. Making sure you have contacted at least three different vendors for review will make sure you have made a well-informed decision and selection.
The second phase in understanding pool basics involves outlining your location. Outdoor pools should not be built near trees or other large landscaping. Excavation will require you to consider any pipes or underground cables, and maybe scheduling time with a plumber and site inspector. You may also need to review the soil of the land site. Some sites may not accommodate the pool that you have selected appropriately. Fiberglass, for example, can expand in its space and so may not be a good fit for very soft soil or land. A tree removal service may be necessary for the backyard or patio that has a large amount of trees or bushes.
The third phase of organizing pool basics involves getting together your pool contractor, builders, and other service providers. You will need a strong team of professionals to make sure you can create the design of your dreams. The team will include a designer or engineer, an excavator, the electrician, a tiler, a fencer, and a plumber. You can review credentials and consider referrals from different people to find the right fit.
Selecting the products and accessories will be a part of the fourth phase. Here you will need to review landscaping options, lighting, pool covers, and even a pool filter that best suits your pool size and style. Accessories may include upgrades to your deck or patio, which can only increase the property value of your home. Decorative features and other additions can include a pool bar, waterfalls, firepits, and other luxury features.
