Fiberglass Pools

Fiberglass pools are a popular option for many pool owners, and bring their own unique set of benefits and customizable options. Fiberglass pools are easy to maintain, and can become an attractive addition to your home. Fiberglass pools are also known as composite pools, and are generally pre-fabricated in design and structure. Customized styles are available, and this may include the addition of a pool spa or hot tub in addition tot eh basic design and layout.

The construction process for fiberglass pools is the same as hot tubs, spas, and portable pools. Fiberglass production and construction has been perfected over the years, and first became popular in the 195s. The durable gel coat surface is the key difference in fiberglass as compared to concrete and vinyl liner pools. The surface is smooth and very easy to maintain, and will not result in regular leakage. Maintaining and cleaning a fiberglass pool is relatively easy, and this makes it a valuable and flexible investment. Fiberglass remains durable for longer than vinyl-liner pools, and can be cleaned and emptied in as little as once per week.

In addition, operating costs are generally lower. You will not be required to use chemicals, resurfacing tools, or any replacement liners Fiberglass pools are designed to remain full at all times, and will not require draining. The water level is managed by pumps and filters, and any surface cracks can be managed with a gel resurfacing technique. A pool vacuum may be required to help keep the pool clean, while an effective pump and motor will help circulate the pool efficiently and effectively.

Maintaining a healthy level of chlorine will help keep the pool in prime condition, and water test kits are readily available to help measure chemical and sanitizer levels. Pool tiles can accent the overall look and feel of the fiberglass pool, and these are available in a variety of colors ranging from cobalt blue to turquoise green.

One-piece fiberglass pools are easy to install and finish. Installation can take between 3-5 days, and begins with excavation. The excavation site will dig out a hole that conforms to the shape of the pre-selected pool, and will be covered with sand. The pool will be lowered into the excavation area, and the shell will be resting in place. Cuttings are made for each pool accessory, which may include a pump, filter and vacuum. Plumbing and hardware are then installed, followed by filling the pool with water. After that, a concrete or wood deck is constructed around the pool, and the entire deck is surfaced. Landscaping may include accessories, fences, and various accents and trim including tropical plants, waterfalls, and special lighting.
